Abstract:The incidence of malignant bowel obstruction (MBO) in advanced tumors is about 5%-43%. The routine treatment methods of MBO include operation, medicine, nutrition therapy, gastrointestinal decompression, stent placement and traditional Chinese medicine. Due to the presence of digestive tract obstruction, most MBO patients are unable to eat or can only eat a small amount of food. As long as the gut is functioning, try to use enteral nutrition. The basic principle for the treatment of malnutrition should be to meet the patients energy needs“protein needs” fluid requirements and micronutrient requirements. Early nutritional therapy is very important for improving the quality of life and prolonging the survival period. Partial enteral nutrition (PEN)+ partial parenteral nutrition (PPN) or total parenteral nutrition (TPN) were mainly used for nutritional treatment. The types of enteral nutrition preparations and parenteral nutrition preparations that can be used by MBO patients were described in this paper.
