Fear of progression and its correlation with social support and post-traumatic growth among postoperative patients with lung
cancer

Abstract:Objective To investigate fear of progression and analyze its correlation with social support and post-traumatic growth in
postoperative patients with lung cancer. Method Using the convenient sampling method a total of 250 postoperative patients with lung
cancer who were treated in the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University from May 2021 to
January 2022 were selected. The general information questionnaire Fear of Progression Questionnaire FoP-Q-SF Social Support
Rating Scale SSRS and Post - Traumatic Growth Scale PTGI - SF were used to investigate the general characteristics fear of
progression social support and posttraumatic growth of patients. Result The score of fear of progression was 26. 75±8. 57 the score
of social support was 38. 88± 7. 40 34. 68± 9. 54 was the score of post-traumatic growth. Fear of progression was negatively
correlated with social support and post-traumatic growth and social support was positively correlated with post-traumatic growth. Sex
education level family monthly income disease awareness clinical stage and post-traumatic growth were the influencing factors of
fear of progression. Conclusion Fear of progression in postoperative patients with lung cancer was at a middle level. Clinicians should
formulate targeted measures alleviate fear of progression and improve the quality of life.
